An Understanding On Ladies Garments

An Understanding On Ladies Garments

Ladies' garments since ages have drawn the fantasy of men and women alike. With time, the concept of garments have evolved from just a "basic clothing" to a level of "style, comfort and elegance".  The rise of budding fashion designers, accessory designers, and related industries like shoes, bags etc have undoubtedly taken the world market by a rage.
Concept Of Ladies Garments:- The concept and inception of textile in general dates back to the time of our early civilizations, where the meaning of clothing was much more simple and blunt. With time, the designs were reformed and special significance was put on the style of draping them. "Khajuraho" temples and "Ajanta Ellora" monuments stand as evidences to a lot of information and idea of women garments as prevailed in the past. Much has changed and evolved in the history of women fashion during the 1900's.
The Trend:- The trend in ladies garment witnessed a radical transformation in the ‘30s when the idea of socialism, and communism blended with womens' fashion. The fashion industry became more and more female oriented in keeping with the conservative Indian culture. Gradually, the influence of the Indian cinema also could be felt in the changing patterns of the ladies garments. The women folk, although open to the raging fashion changes, continued to wear their "saris", "kurtas", "lehengas" and "dupattas" at religious and ceremonial festivities. The use of traditional hand-woven fabrics continued with the introduction of imported fabrics. The last decade of the millennium, the 90's, was one of the extremes. It witnessed some of the biggest turning points in the women fashion world with the birth of much younger generation of designers in the market. The decade curved out the "Indian Women" as a culmination of comfort, poise and confidence. It encouraged the revival of ethnicity with a strong influence of films which became more discreet and launched the "back to ethnic" look. While on one hand the new drive for information technology popularized the corporate look, the fine mix of ethnicity with trend setting style encouraged the young girls to embrace modernity with traditional forms of art and crafts.
